About the Department

Under the trend of globalization, our new generation are becoming active users of foreign language skills for both communication or advanced study purposes. Despite the fact that English is generally recognized as the mainstream international language for communication, Japanese has also become a popular and important foreign language. This trend is particularly evident as Japan and Taiwan are geographically, historically, and economically close to each other. Under this background, Da-Yeh University established the Department of Applied Japanese Language, which is dedicated to cultivating proficient Japanese-speaking professionals and promoting students’ global views to match the needs of the competitive global village.

Under the approval of the Ministry of Education, the department started admitting students in 1990 and started participating in the Dayeh Joint Board and College Recruitment Commission, as well as taking up the responsibility for planning and establishing Japanese related curriculum for the whole university. Moreover, since 2012, the Department of Applied Japanese Language has started to offer undergraduate-level courses as well.
